@thoroughbred 5000 Basically if everyone was given $12,000 then taxes increase on the rich, bringing prices of foods and basic necessities up, making it even harder for people receiving UBI to make more than what they are given from UBI because of high tax and higher necessity prices. Basically socialism because you choose what job you do but everyone has around the same amount of money. The volatility in difference between poor and rich people would lower making “the gap” shorter and bring us closer to a socialist society. Also because people receiving UBI are taxed more on money they earn they would probably just quit their jobs and put the country in debt, its even said in the video 67% or more of people would most likely quit their jobs, especially if taxed increased

@Greg for fantasy most if this systems work surprisingly well in the developed world. I mean we have: companies with flat hierarchies (a weak form of socialism in a capitalistic society), health care systems, and welfare in most western countries.

Universal Basic Income is what needs to happen. Common sense. Thomas Paine, Napoleon, Martin Luther King Jr., and Andrew Yang talked about this and they were definitely on to something 100%. A Universal Basic Income should have been implemented long ago. This would create so many positive things for all people, and give them an individual purpose to think about what they want to do with their life, without being constantly depressed, better sleep and leading to better overall health and give them a sense of security. People should not have to suffer, stress, and live like this. This is supposed to be a Great Country and a land of opportunity/creativity. Just imagine what an extra $1000 a month UBI can actually do for many people. People who have been through hell, are more grateful to actually know what to do with their money and spend it wisely on what matters most in their individual life. This planet is a prison and if we keep living like this, things will just keep getting worse. This inequality needs to stop. There is more to life than a 9-5, people can learn how to grow their own food and make compost, travel more, and not live their life by just working just a 9-5 for nothing and then just die. Also because of automation and robots everso increasing, the definition of work needs to be redefined and there is more to this life!!! There is also an amazing opportunity of a lifetime on my channel for those who have the eyes to see it. Become an independent associate and pursue your dreams!!!

If everyone gets paid the same amount then money doesn’t mean a thing and a new form of wealth will emerge. Communism is unsustainable and produces slaves. A man must be able to determine his own wealth or fear captivity

UBI is just a commie dream: the only way it can be paid for is through taxes (which the rich will know how to avoid) so the ordinary person will work/be-taxed to pay for it so the lazy can just stay at home claiming UBI and having more kids to grow up and claim UBI. Of course, the vaccines that don't actually make you immune to the Covid 19 strains, will probably turn out to reduce human fertility considerably.

Lol 3:50 'money's not magically printed' well actually it is just printed.. loans equal money and that's how it gets into the system. The belief of people give it value. So yeah there is always more and more money in the system so less capita per unit.

Ummm, if demand increases then inflation does too. Assuming this is not offset by deflation from efficiency, which I can’t foresee right now.

Demand would mostly increase in low budget goods, such as cheap clothing or economical food the way I see it. And those markets are the most competitive, where because of capitalism companies try their hardest to make the best product for the lowest money, so I think companies would be very incentivied to reduce prices. If you can sell 2 blankets at the price of 1 of your rival's you are gonna get all his costumers.

Benefits are great but it too much expensive. Image this that program exist but 1/4 of everything that produce in/outside of usa just dissapeard to pay for UBI... If we make it today in usa without any massive reduction, it will make tax inflation in minimum 25% but the consumption massivly grow. Fiinal inflation is so about 6%(actual real inflation)+25% + new consumption(+ next about 15%). Final inflation is about 45%, welcome in venezuela/zimbabwe! :))

Still far away. In my opinion we need to enter the solar age in order for this to be applied. Aslong as we are bond to our planet and its limited resources, this cannot fit to some of our values like being competitive. As i see it the world of the present wont work like this Reaching out to the resources of our solar system then this might be more possible. Everyone will get his ass rich and everyone will habe no problem to help the others and gain also friendship and cooperation This or the discovery of pretty agressive and developed extraterestrial life, wich will force us all to work together and forget unessecary rivalries in order to survive ^^

Prieš dieną
Emil Sinclair
Emil Sinclair

@alexander44444 I actually have done this. Take a look at rhine capitalism. A good example is Germany. You will see that regulations and rules can have beneficial effects. Especially in combination with social programs and relatively free education. The free market fails mostly in the low income area because people have to take the job. They don't have any bargaining pover. You may don't know it but demand is highly influenced by psychological factors. You also totally missed that work changes. That is why some jobs don't find new workers while others have way to many workers. There is also a beneficial worthlessness. This is a concept based upon the following idea: if you dont find new workers, you have to keep everyone you have. Theirfore you will be more forgiving and their efficiency will drop.

Prieš dieną
alexander44444
alexander44444

@Emil Sinclair you can analyze it. And you will be surprised to see the lowest levels of poverty in the countries wich promotes closest to free market principles. We have anything but capitalism in our country. And that is the problem.

Prieš dieną
Emil Sinclair
Emil Sinclair

@alexander44444 or we could analyse in which country we have the smallest ammount of poverty. Do you know the country? And no I don't talk about the poverty line. I talk about the % of the population that has to live with less than 2$ per day. Or 4. And socialism? Come on. This is not socialism. I think you are talking about failed public investment. Well take a look outside of your country and you will see that your economic understanding is wrong.

Long answer: we don't know if it works Short answer: we can't prove it scientifically yet, but it obviously won't work. Reality is, any kind of government policy that demotivates people from working, hurts the economy. The economy is nothing more than the total amount of goods and services we produce and exchange. All the goods en services produced are the result of... well... people working. If a significant amount of people work less or stop working altogether with a basic income, less goods and services are being produced. Because people start working less, labor will become more expensive. As labor becomes more expensive, goods and services will become more expensive and thus our economy gets completely screwed.

UBI is like a double blade sword. On one hand people with good ideas but no money can then use those free money to make new technology, I think having futuristic technology such as spaceships and VR to be important in advancing civilization. But at the same time degenerates could use those free money to buy drugs and do all kinds of degenerate sh!t now that they don’t have to work. Additionally, financial hardship tend to bring people closer to God, with a UBI most people would think they don’t need God anymore but at the same time it also can be used as a test to see who would remember God and to pray despite not needing to work. A solution would be that how much a person gets on UBI be dependent on how much faith and IQ that person has.

there is a problem with this: political leaders could use UBI to force behaviours. don't like people using a website? simply threaten to not pay them if they visit it. don't want people to express a certain opinion? threaten not to pay them. want to force people to take certain drugs, even if they don't want to or have religious objections to them? threaten not to pay. universal basic income is a nice idea but until we can get truly impartial leaders who won't force their ideals onto others through whatever means they have access to at the first chance they get: it's nothing more than a pipe-dream. or worse still; UBI Does get instated and we're all forced to think a certain way or be cast out by society for not following what the state deems acceptable.

@Olivia Rodriguez universal basic income is the government giving you money to live, if there's no laws preventing the governing body from restricting payment, then they can very easily say; "you broke law [x] of public disturbance, you will no longer receive money"

You're confusing UBI with strict forms of socialism or communism. Wrong.

You people realize that this is legal slavery. If you take the money, these people dictate what you can or can't do with it and tighter and tighter restrictions will come crashing down on your already non exsistant freedom as a human.

I’m just thinking here....Giving everybody more money would surely create more demand of course, but will the supply catch up? And can our planet really handle more demand? It’s already at its peak.... not even considering if the demand cannot be met, how all that UBI money will become worthless, where all you can buy with your whole $2000 UBI pay check is a loaf of bread(extreme scenario, I know, but plausible nonetheless) someone correct me please

Ubi would help to distribute wealth more evenly. It's not as if they would be printing new money, the best way to fund ubi would be to tax the rich and redistribute wealth

If the cost of living rises in line with the greed of man, then we have a potential exponential shit storm awaiting us. As the population multiplies That which sustains it is divided Millionaires and billionaires earn multitudes more than say a careworker on minimum wage. And the poor person does more work. The monetary system should be built on beads of sweat. But these rich fuckers use computers and don't even break a sweat. Only have to see the wealthy complete an everyday mundane task and you'll see how silly and out of place they look. Theyre good with numbers But when it comes to common sense Or compassion They lack those Money doesn't equate to sense Or hard earned It's usual trickery Scamming Tax avoidence Daylight robbery It's all rather discusting. And I am the richest man For my heavenly wealth outweighs All the gold in all those vaults that they stole from you. And your trust funds Straw men. Your soul belongs to the dark men in suits.

We don't need to work. Of course we must eat and somebody is responsible for the growth of that food. Which comes at a cost. But I think that if money didn't exist, it'd be a better place. That which sustains life ought to be free to all. Housing, education and food should not cost. People will still live and do what they do but without money. So nobody owns more than any other. 1 man = 1 house Not 1 man owns the whole street and makes profit on charging more. There is more money than trees it seems.... Money is the great cause of the world's losses. Look at the balance sheets. Not balanced. If poverty was eradicated then so too would the rich. Because the rich steal the money from the poor in a legal way. We pay tax. The rich do not. They can print something that is worthless yet it buys value. I know nothing but I know that our monetary system needs entire new thinking. In my view if I was in charge I'd make the world's resources free and equal for all. We ought to be printing more trees But we ran out of paper.... Just my sense of humour.

The small print is large print , You do not own any property it is all owned by the state , so when they tell you down the line that guy is living in your spare room ,he is. Then you have to stay in your local areas need a pass to go to the country side. No way out anymore the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor .you are educated to a level of compliance. This has been a conspiracy theory for the tin foil hats for over 20 years .They get laughed at and told this would never happen then bish bash bosh every country is looking at this.

Government's paying you an income what you don't understand if you're job paid £50,000 a year and then the government said instead of your £50,000 a year were going to give universal credit to everybody which will be £1,000 a month per household not per person in your house I would say the government would be getting their money's worth and some..... government's do nothing to help their people only to help themselves...... and if you ever went against your council or your government in anyway they could half your payment or even stop your payment for that month and there's nothing you could do about it after social credit will come social order the government won't even need police you will be very good people well behaved for your thousand-pound a month cuz if you don't behave you won't be getting...... when government start paying people wages and the people accept it the people are f***ed.....

I'm not sure what you're saying here? In the UK, households which do not earn over a certain wage are entitled to a Universal Credit which offsets the difference. This decreases in scale to what you earn, but assists people in at least basic living standards.

You lost me at no inflation... sure UBI is going to steal money from other social programs to be funded but the current hidden inflation (real estate and stocks) will make your UBI worthless in a few years... or months o_O.
