A war has been raging for billions of years, killing trillions every single day, while we don’t even notice. This war involves the single deadliest being on our planet: The Bacteriophage.

I am a child who wanted to be a doctor, Suddenly I found this video and decided to find a cure. I noticed here: 5:26, this sentence "It turns out that in order to become resistant to even just a few species of phages, bacteria have to give up their resistance to antibiotics." made me a bit excited for a cure. COVID-19 was resistant to most antibiotics, so I would try to be disciplined when I grow up. I would really appreciate it if this comment gets a bunch of likes. Thanks!

I bet 5:25 does not age well. I'm almost certain that over time they'll slowly evolve to be resistant to phages and virtually immune to antibiotics. Just give bacteria a century from when this catch 22 becomes common and we'll be right back where we started unless doctors and patients behave responsibly.
Prieš 6 dienųLilacDoe
@Benedict Mannheim even the video says this is relatively new and experimental. How much data and how much time history is this tested on? Granted, the fact that phages are a form of pseudo-life will help since they'll continue to adapt as well, but it seems too convenient to think they'll completely give up a resistance to antiobiotics. Let me walk you through what's likely to happen... 1. People use phages on super-resistant bacteria 2. Over time bacteria develop resistance to those phages, which even the video says can happen 3. People take antiobiotics against phage resistant bacteria, but some people don't take all their medicine and a handful with a slight resistance survive and propagate 4. Rinse and repeat many many times and what do you end up with?
Prieš 5 dienųBenedict Mannheim
Ever thought about that this is proven and you are wrong
Prieš 5 dienųDucki
Now, what would we do once millions of Phages are in our body? How would we get rid of them? Or do they just sit around forever
Prieš 6 dienųBenedict Mannheim
Um yes they sit around till they die, leave or more prey comes

What if the phages start changing and start attacking our cells
Prieš 6 dienųcolowny
@Russo Dario oh ur right lol thanks for the information
Prieš 5 dienųRusso Dario
They are too specialized in bacteria. The species jump of some virus is happening because despite de differences of species the animal cell has a similar structure that permits the virus to make a species jump. If you see again the video they will tell you this. And again bacteriophages are everywhere also on your bodies.

@Benedict Mannheim When somo one like you say something like that it's clear that you are a complete ignorant of who the Gates are and their background, do your self a favor and do some real research on them. Dont go to CNN or CNBC and all the other main stream media because they will keep you as blind as posible. But if you wanna keep believing he is a genius, philantrophist and all good he fakes to be to people don't do anything just take the jabs his companies offer you. As fas as I know he stole the system behind Microsoft, as far as I know he is facing arrest in India for killing many children with his vaccines, and also in Africa where he conducts his vaccine trials, and I can go on and on but don't believe me research it your self pretty much everybody knows it. But at the end believe what you will it doesn't affect me.
