Vaccines are one of our best tools to prevent dangerous diseases, but they come with side effects. So would it be safer not to vaccinate?

Dive into sources and further reading here: https://sites.google.com/view/sources-vaccines Vaccines and their side effects are a hard topic to cover – we know we keep saying this, but this case especially, there were a lot of things to consider. You can’t blame people for being worried, so we wanted to take their concerns seriously. Because it is impossible to cover everything there is to know about vaccines in a ten minute video our sources are extra extensive and explain a lot of aspects in more detail, with an extra focus on further reading. So if you want to dive in deeper or have more arguments at hand for your next heated discussion, here you go.

It's pretty good video. It would be even better if it touched the subject of responsibility for the negative health issues caused by side effects of vaccines. That's depressing that such good channel supports hate towards people who want to protect their children from diseases *AND* from side effects of vaccines. If vacs had to be mandatory - that's ok. But those who force the vacs should pay compensation for all the serious side effects. If that point of view makes me anti vaccine guy, then I would like to say go f yourself to every selfish dick who reacts that way when someone mentions the subject of responsibility for the side effects of mandatory vacs.

@People Person On a side note. Before we had many vaccines the illnesses which vaccines today have made largely absent in society were once commonplace. Thus as I indicated tens of thousands of people used to be hospitalized owing to Measles every year. Yet those individuals - or rather their families = we on the hook for that. So unless they were lucky enough to have health insurance the families were left holding the bag on the healthcare costs as well as what occurred as a result - some became permanently disabled. So another benefit of the VICP program is = it gives recourse to individuals. If a person incurs serious adverse effects which can be reasonably linked to vaccination they can get compensation. If such results in lifelong health impairment that compensation is prorated for the rest of their life. In other words the family now can receive remuneration whereas in the past these unlucky individuals were simply chalked up as part of everyday life as a result of catching what was once commonplace. Measles used to cause several million cases a year pre-MMR. Today on average it causes several hundred and those are "imported" meaning unvaccinated who catch it outside of the US and bring it back with them to spread to other unvaccinated in their communities. Facts as John Adams famously quipped are _"stubborn thing."_ Have a nice day.

@Daniel Elia dear lovely man, it is true that somo metals are toxic, but It really depends if metal compounds are toxic or metabolise into toxic. For example salt, that's from sodium and chloride, chloride was used in the first world war as a weapon, yet you eat salt everyday and you live. It is really about if the compound is dangerous and to tels the truth, they are not

@Emilio Razo emilio I'VE SEEN THAT I'M NOT JUST REPEATING SOMETHING I'VE READ ON FACEBOOK! That's disgusting, no one tries to understand: 1) vaccines are not the cause of "adverse reactions", but metals! 2) mrna vaccines are not yet tested for long term effects. 3)You all are begging to be "guinea pigs" and all you have to say about it is that I'm no vax? I'm not no vax, all those who instead of arguing( or trying to understand the meaning of what I was saying) have labeled me proved they're unintelligent.. 4)are you the same people who said twenty years ago that "a little mercury does nothing"? LMFAO 5) "dude"? I'm not your friend, you buddy.. And so..I realized that in America you are in worse shape than Italy.. 10 answers, 0 arguments👌👌👌👌👌👌🍾 "Bravooo" " biiis"

Dude, vaccines have been around since the 1800's and have caused people's lives to increase since. Just look it up. those articles that tell you that it's hurting their kids are fake. Yes, it is possible for a vaccine to hurt you. But it does not happen pretty much at all, and when it does, it is a basic reaction that doesn't do anything.

My brother had (predicted) complications from his measles vaccine (and other vaccines) as a kid, but he had a somewhat underdeveloped immune system in his early childhood, so if he'd gotten actual measles, he would've likely died. He got a fever for a few days and was groggy for a while. Nothing else happened, except he didn't get sick from these horrible diseases. And he was somewhat of a worst-case-scenario and he's fine. Now he's 20 and healthy. Vaccinate your kids, peeps, or they may not make it as far as he did.

Prieš dieną
Vary Olla

_"so if he'd gotten actual measles, he would've likely died."_ BINGO!!! You are correct. More importantly is you elucidate what anti-vaxxers seem incapable of understanding. To wit: vaccines employ weakened versions of organisms or else even pieces of them. So a person unable to abide exposure to say the weakened Measles virus = would more than like react the same - or worse - upon simply contracting Measles to develop the full-blown illness. Meanwhile the more people who refuse to vaccinate for whatever reason = the greater the likelihood of that exposure occurring. Enjoy your day.

Also, I’m not saying that vaccines are bad or whatever that crap is, I’m saying that you prob shouldn’t get 15 shots in one as 5 year old. My mom is skeptical about it, not against it. And I am also saying that if your going to get shots, get the dates more spread apart as too many at one time can overload your immune system and temporarily harm your body. Now you can only get 2 in the same week where I live and the cocktail shot was banned, ok, rant over, Buildy out

Prieš dieną

My sister got a shot as a kid called a cocktail shot as it has many shots in one. She somehow had an allergic reaction to it and needed doctors attention. My mom has been skeptical of them ever since. Meanwhile the vaccine haters ignore the historical reality that before we had say the MMR vaccine that Measles and Mumps were leading causes of meningoencephalitis in children. Measles alone used to account for several thousand individuals developing encephalitis each year in the US in the time before there was an MMR vaccine to basically eliminate these illnesses which were once commonplace. Several million people in the US used to catch Measles each and every year.

I am watching this to prove antivaxxers wrong. And btw vaccines are NOT cures. They are mixes of safe chemicals that are used to simulate a virus so your body can practice fighting it off and then when you do get it you won’t get sick and spread it as your body knows how to fight it off! Hope I informed some people here, trying my best.

Prieš dieną
Vary Olla

@BuildyBoi Cancer is not an "entity" per se and as such it has no single source of causation as noted. Cancer is = a *PROCESS* whereby some cells in your body for some reason are abnormal and not replicating normally - cellular mitosis giving rise to clusters of mutated cells. There are different types of cancers depending upon the area of the body affected and what type of mutation arises. So your immune system not only fights off infectious organisms = it is constantly on the alert for basically anything in your body which does not belong to include abnormal cells. When that system breaks down and aberrant cells given rise to tumors = "cancer".

Prieš dieną
BuildyBoi
BuildyBoi

@Vary Olla yea, from what I know, cancer is almost impossible to cure as it is constantly evolving and is also too small for your body to fight, it attaches to your dna and attacks that dealing an insane amount of damage which is why it is so dangerous.

Prieš dieną
TheEpic Panther
TheEpic Panther

because we cant relibaly cause cancer so therefore we cant reliably cause hypertumors.

Prieš dieną
Vary Olla
Vary Olla

Cancer is a failure of your immune system to police itself. Given the way your body maintains itself - cellular mitosis - it regularly produces aberrant cells. Meanwhile your immune system is responsible for identifying and destroying those abnormal cells to be replaced with new healthy ones. So there is no one cause for cancer like there is for say Measles and thus it is difficult to treat as one normally does not know the source of the dysfunction which lead to abnormal cells arising. It could be environmental or it could simply be your body generating abnormal cells which were not identified and eliminated for some reason. So people who develop cancers are those who immune system is failing for some reason and since of course you need that immune system to defeat cancers = it is like removing the guards from a prison to let the prisoners run free as there is no one to control them.

I'm very pro-vax, though I struggled in the past due to a phobia of needles and a very, very low tolerance for pain. I've largely beaten that phobia after having to go through chemo in 2019 and the subsequent testing since then. (Also beat my fear of surgery after having my first surgery in late 2018 for a related reason. Mostly was fear of that thing where you're awake and feel the surgery but can't do anything. Thankfully that didn't happen.) I think this put my mind at ease more for the Covid-19 vaccine. My chief worry was in regards to side effects/having an allergic reaction to it since I'm allergic to both sulfa-based and penicillin-based antibiotics. Though the extent of my reaction is just a very itchy rash that is solved by taking some Benadryl that knocks me out. So, I guess I'm being a bit overly concerned just b/c it's new. The risk is very low, and likely to be rather minor at worst. Plus, by the time they get down to someone like me on the priority list, those are much more likely to be understood, and at any rate, the herd immunity is the more important thing here.

Aside from the annual Flu vaccine which represents a zoonotic virus = most vaccine strains have not changed in literally years. The MMR vaccine as an example has used the same strains since the 1970's...................why??? - if as you say these things supposedly mutate periodically. Moral of the story: you know what more than anything promotes mutation....................... getting - *INFECTED!!* In other words people who refuse to vaccinate and who then catch what vaccines could easily prevent. Each new infected person = another chance for a virus to potentially mutate into something more virulent. So would people but get vaccinated than many things we vaccinate against could be eradicated within a generation as the organisms are "human specific" = meaning they can only replicate in people. Eliminate new people to infect and the virus dies out just as happened with Smallpox. Something new to think about. p.s. - while Influenza is mutagenic the virus does not mutate as much as some want to believe. The annual Flu vaccine where you live often contains some of the same strains as the year(s) previously depending upon what is circulating around. Why you need to get a shot every year is more due to the transient nature of immunity. Your immunity only lasts perhaps a year or two after which = your body stops manufacturing antibodies and you lose that immunity until re-exposure. Also while we want people to be vaccinated you do not require every person in an area if you can "wall off" the infected to stop transmission when there is an outbreak. That is why "contact tracing" is done with some infectious illnesses. We promote vaccination to prevent future infections in case the organism is introduced by................ = unvaccinated! So you really need to assume less and understand more here.

@Lloyd_lyle And yet do you not see a problem with getting whatever chemicals along with a retarded version of that very same virus pumped into you year after year and having to deal with potentially deadly side effects however small the chance, I'm not anti-vaccination lord knows I've had my share of em but a vaccine for the flu or corona just kind seems like a bit of an oxymoron, y'know like fighting for peace or screwing for virginity.

Prieš 3 dienas

This is why many vaccines have to be taken multiple times over your life, most diseases don’t really evolve that fast, Coronavirus and the Flu do evolve pretty fast though, so that’s why we take flu vaccines so much.

Prieš 3 dienas

@Brian Lam Honestly, it all depends on if you're in the targeted age or health group and if you've got pre-existing stuff wrong with you you're bound to catch something moderately deadly easier than a healthier person vaccinated or no and besides that, there is always the chance the vaccine does JS and you still get sick anyway not to mention that they're only truly effective if *EVERYONE* gets it and really... good luck with that.

In other words people who were already among the highest risk category and who would have most certainly died anyways upon contracting actual Covid - which being individuals in a community setting like a nursing home they were already at severe risk of exposure. So at least the vaccine gave them better odds while thousands will now be immune. Better luck next time with your superficial rendition of the facts. Dig a little deeper next time.

we are not against vaccines, we appreciate the role of vaccine made out of good fate by good men. Our concern today is that the boogiemen have hijacked the vaccine production line and we fear so badly for our lives. people who don't care if we live or die have the yam and the knife in their hands. we have seen software developers suddenly become vaccine expert, it's really scary. Covid 19 vaccine scares us the most because it was spoken of before covid ever appeared, and covid 19 was spoken of and even the three phases were foreseen, which makes the virus more of a spiritual thing and makes its experts more of prophets than scientists. Measeals surprised us all, no one ever knew the time, its vaccine took time to come up and had side effects which we understood and accepted. but covid was spoken of long ago and the three phases were seen and the vaccine that certainly has a much more complicated technology surfaced too early for our liking, in fact, it was prepared several years before I suppose.

Before covid 19 there was a very similar coronavirus a couple years ago. Scientists started researching the vaccine then but due to lack of budget weren't able to complete it. Billions of dollars were funneled into covid 19 vaccine research. The new mRNA vaccine is incredibly safe and effective. The mRNA vaccine teaches your body how to create the spike protein that is on a normal covid particle. Your body learns this spike protein and can then detect real covid particles very fast if they get into your body. The pfizer and moderna vaccine have less than 10 ingredients, most of them being natural salts, fats and sugars, and then the active mRNA ingredient.

@DrakeSilmore _"or your life habits aren't favorable to your immune system."_ Yup. To get sick = you must first be exposed. So constantly being in proximity to potentially sick people + not washing your hands regularly or taking other mitigation measures = increases the chances of exposure and thus getting sick as a result. As to mRNA vaccines they are new as far as vaccine usage. So it is possible over time that we see other similar mRNA type vaccines depending upon the success of this one and any advancement as far as storage requirements. The biggest pitfall with the mRNA vaccine is of course the storage requirements associated with it and possibly cost. Older type vaccines are cheaper and far easier to store and distribute which gives them a leg up. That is why as an example the older oral OPV Polio vaccine is still widely used in the Third World as it costs pennies a dose despite a better - though more expensive - IPV vaccine being around since the 1980's. So what vaccines are used is largely a matter of what countries will purchase for themselves.

Prieš 4 dienas

@DrakeSilmore While it is true that some zoonotic pathogens occasionally mutate = they do not always do so. If you look at what strains go into the annual Flu vaccine where you live you will see that it is not uncommon for the same strains to be in a vaccine several years running. That means that while that strain may "re-infect" a region as it is introduced several years in a row from somewhere it does not necessarily change in its makeup. So while true that viruses can occasionally mutate it is not a given. What is a given is what I noted = immunity is often transient in nature. On a side note it is the zoonotic pathogens which are the most prone to mutate as opposed to the "human specific" ones. An example is Measles. The MMR has used the same strain of MeV for decades now = genotype A. Meanwhile there are more than 20 genotypes of MeV in the world. As MeV only infects humans there is less chance of a new variant arising compared to Influenza which can jump between multiple species = thus adding new genes to its makeup over time. So while the Measles virus has indeed mutated per se = the serotype which is what matters has not. So long as the antigens on its viral capsid remain the same then the vaccine strain works irrespective of any new genotypes which might arise over time. The problem of effectiveness of the Flu vaccine is not so much the rise of new strains as "antigenic drift" from the manufacturing process. Because the vaccine viruses are grown in chicken eggs one sometimes sees protein variance which can cause the virus to be slightly different from the strain circulating around. Researchers for years have tried to find a way to mass produce viral matter for vaccine manufacturing and not see this drift.

NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE: Pfizer vaccine efficacy: Pfizer and BioNTech on Wednesday said that their experimental SARS-CoV-2 vaccine is 95% effective 7 days after the second dose. The companies released the final efficacy analysis from their phase 3 trial, which has enrolled over 43,000 people. The placebo group has had 162 COVID-19 cases, compared with the vaccine group's 8. Among adults over age 65 in particular, efficacy was maintained at 94%. Of the 10 cases of severe COVID-19 diagnosed, 9 occurred in the placebo group. The data monitoring group has not noted any serious safety effects. The companies intend to submit a request for an emergency use authorization "within days." My department, which includes 30 neurologists and over 20 RNs/MAs, received the Pfizer vaccine. I got my first dose of Pfizer vaccine 12/23/2020 and second dose 1/13/2020. No problems. It is unlikely that mRNA vaccines are inferior to virus particle (attenuated virus) vaccines. Storage requirements are major downside. UpToDate: “Promotes active immunization against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus. The modified messenger RNA (mRNA) in the vaccine is formulated in lipid particles that enable delivery of the RNA into host cells to allow expression of the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) antigen. The vaccine elicits both neutralizing antibody and cellular immune responses to the S antigen, which may contribute to protection against COVID-19 disease (FDA 2020a; FDA 2020b). @DrakeSilmore Thus far the mutations do not appear to worsen virulence = merely the infectibility of the virus. Accordingly as long as the serotype does not alter itself then the vaccines out there should work. It is only when the antigens change up that antibodies potentially lose effectiveness depending upon the amount of change and cross-reactivity of existing antibodies generated against the original variant.

Correct. mRNA research has been going on since the early 1990's. Further employment of modified particle delivery mechanisms - such as nano lipid particles infused with a substance - has similarly been around for a while now beginning originally with cancer research for delivery of chemo agents. Thus employment of the gene responsible for antigen manifestation directly to the cells is simply "cutting out the middle man" as far as it does not require the actual pathogen nor a modified organism to elicit antibody formation. Rather upon entering the cell the mRNA will trigger the protein creation which manifests on the cellular membrane akin to what happens anyways when cells "present" antigens to the circulatory B-Cells during the Major Histocompatibility Complex. Then those B-cells migrate to the lymph tissues to "mature" and begin production of antigen specific IgG immunoglobulins which are active against SARS-CoV-2 the same as your immune system would produce if you had simply caught Covid. Meanwhile the impacted cell is ultimately destroyed via cellular apoptosis the same as occurs with infected cells during any infection upon recognition that the cell is "abnormal" in a fashion to be replaced by a normal healthy cell. Have a nice day.

I love how they are so detailed then suddenly gloss over the MMR vaccine, switch right to vaccines don't cause autism, and that's that. They fail to mention that MMR are three very strong vaccines administered at once increasing both the risk of side effects, as well as an over taxation of a young child immune system which causes problem still yet to be discovered. Autism, possibly one, but auto immune diseases which are becoming more and more prevalent, such as lupus, eczema, psoriasis, diverticulitis, IBS to name a few. When you essentially inflame a young child immune system early on and all at once, you're playing with fire. Vaccines are good and I swear by them. But let's stop so many so early so soon and reevaluate these diseases of the brain and immune system

Overworking the immune system in the manner that you described would be much less likely to cause autoimmune disorders, and much more likely to cause a weakened immune system. Autoimmune disorders are when the immune system mistakes normal parts of the body for dangerous pathogens, and tries to destroy it. What you'd be more likely to see is a immune system that doesn't function as well or at all, not one that misidentifies targets.

Why is it the anti-vaxxers are generally from the more educated, and wealthier upper-class? Anyone?

Because you grew up with privilege. You don’t have to worry that you’ll be evicted, that you will be homeless, that you’ll die with 25,000 dollars of debt. You don’t have to deal with not being able to afford healthcare and living. It’s all the privilege of being rich. And I wouldn’t say more educated. Most rich kids my age are dumber than bricks. I’ve met some myself. The dumbest kid in my school looks like a PhD scholar next to some of the spoiled rich kids I’ve met. Stop making assumptions about things you don’t understand.

Since they've never had anything serious happen to them they believe they are semi invincible no matter what. Same thing with anti maskers

my 5 month old niece died the night she got her vaccination. The dr would not even consider the vaccine as cause for her death.....they labeled it SIDS. This happened in the 1980s...when there were an incredible number of babies strangely dying from..."SIDS". They focused on whether or not you laid your child on their belly or on their backs and this was considered the cause of these deaths......never was it even mention that perhaps there was a bad vaccine out there.....they didn't want parents NOT to vaccinate their kids but never let them know of possible deaths/side effects. Funny how you don't hear that controversy anymore about whether you lay a child on their belly or backs.....and SIDS is hardly an issue now.....but Autism is. I work in a school and something is causing this issue and funny no one seems interested in finding out what. I choose not to get vaccines...you do what you want....but I'd rather take my chances and have every right to choose NOT to put them in my body. Why you all feel such a great need to demean and ridicule those who have reasons for making that choice....is beyond me.

that might have been like the seatbelt thing they talked about in the video, where its completely safer to have vaccines but very rarely causes the worst to actually happen, its still definitely safer to actually get vaccines

SIDS is the cause, it was a coincidence as the timing of the death was unfortunate. I still would reccomend vaccinating
